Why is Pancake Day in March? When did that happen? Well I don’t know, and frankly I can’t be bothered looking up the reason.

Instead I’ve been scouring the best bars and restaurants in Northern Quarter for the finest Pancake Day offers and specials for your viewing pleasure. Here you go – enjoy…

Pancake Special Menu
Foundation Coffee House
The coffee shop and cafe have put some impressive Pancake specials on their menu, which will be available until the end of the week. There’s the Scrambled Eggs & Bacon, Yoghurt & Granola, Eggs Benedict and Caramel Latte options, but they’re also offering to serve ANYTHING on their menu on pancakes all day on Shrove Tuesday – for an extra £2.

Fully Loaded Pancakes
19 Cafe Bar
This NQ cafe always has some seriously good loaded pancakes on their menu – so it’s a bit of a no brainer to head there on Shrove Tuesday if you’re looking for a bit of batter action. There’s always plenty of specials and options on offer; 3 massive fluffy American pancakes topped with Biscoff spread and crumb, Kinder Pancakes with a homemade Kinder sauce, Kinder Bueno and ice cream, or just the classics; syrup, bacon and fruit. They have it all – and these beauties are GOOD!

All American Pancakes
The Koffee Pot
A Manchester institution, The Koffee Pot have been serving brekkie to the people of the NQ for more than 40 years, so it’s safe to say that they know a thing or two about frying an egg and mixing some batter. Their All American Pancakes (£10) are massive, and come topped with a sausage patty, smoked streaky bacon, hash brown, fried egg and maple syrup. Sorta like a Full American-English Breakfast.

All You Can Eat Pancakes with Bottomless Cocktails
The Shack
Early in the morning on Friday I was told that due to popular demand, The Shack were forced to add another day to their Pancake Day Bottomless offer, so you can now book a table on Ash Wednesday too. Available all day on Tuesday & Wednesday, it’s a great deal, with endless pancakes for £12.50 and bottomless booze for and additional £15. If you want to be a baller, you can opt for the bottomless cocktails option for an extra £25 – and get endless Pornstar Martinis.

Cherry Pie Dream Stack
Home Sweet
Home Sweet Home is now called just ‘Home Sweet’, but just because they’re missing a word (kind of) – it doesn’t mean that they’re missing anything that made them so popular in the first place. This Pancake Day they’ve created a Cherry Pie Dream Stack – three fluffy pancakes topped with cherry pie filling, Biscoff cream, maple syrup and lotus pie crumb. Yummy.
