Ron-Zacapa-Rum

It’s an early start for this month’s Rum Club with Zacapa at Keko Moku, where the fun begins at 4pm.

This month they have Zacapa hosting the famous Rum Club at Keko Moku. North West Luxury Brands Ambassador James Hill will give you a brief history behind the brand, talk you through the solera process (and if you are asking yourself “what’s the solera process” you should go and find out!) and offer tastings of the 23 year and XO Zacapa rum.

For those of us who can’t make it for 4pm, James will be sticking around in Keko after the Rum Club finishes at 6pm so anyone who can’t make it before then can have a taste. The Rum Club will also see the launch of the Keko Moku Zacapa Cocktail which will be advertised inside Keko Moku throughout May.

Free entry – All are welcome – Mahalo!

Ron Zacapa Centenario

Zacapa Marquee

Ron Zacapa Centenario is produced in the verdant land of Guatemala crafting ultra-premium rums; Zacapa 23 and Zacapa XO. Zacapa was created in 1976 to celebrate the centenary of the foundation of Zacapa, a town in eastern Guatemala.

The country’s fertile volcanic soil and tropical climate combine to make Guatemala one of the best places in the world to grow rum’s raw ingredient – sugar cane. First pressed ‘virgin sugar cane honey’ or sugar can juice is extracted and is the base ingredient for both Ron Zacapa Centenario variations. Following fermentation and distillation, Master Blender Lorena Vásquez ages the rum 2300 m above sea level in an ageing facility, fondly known as the ‘House above the Clouds’.

Zacapa Solera

Aged using an adapted Spanish sherry maturing process, the ‘Sistema Solera’ enables rums of varying ages and personalities to be carefully blended by the Master Blender. Old and new rums are carefully combined and matured in a series of casks previously used to store American whiskeys, delicate sherries and Pedro Ximenez wines, which give an extraordinary depth of flavour.  The high altitude, constant average temperature of 14°C (58°F) allow the liquids to retain distinctive deep, rich flavours and qualities.

The rum has won awards from different international competitions and is the first rum to be included in the International Rum Festival’s Hall of Fame.
