In amongst all the many changes on Edge Street lately (new apartments, refurbs at MadLab & Common, 63Degrees arrival, opening of Ziferblat & General Store) has been the arrival of a specialist fried chicken joint, Yard & Coop.
Until recently I hadn’t realised that the Yard is the bar and the Coop is the restaurant, so I thought I’d pass on that knowledge. The Yard serves up an ever-changing range of craft beers from local breweries, small batch spirits and a cocktail list with everything from barrel aged classics to hard shakes. While that all sounds good the thing that really sets this place apart is the chicken.
So once you head to The Coop you pick the cut, crumb and sauce and they’ll fry you up some buttermilk chicken, just how you like it. Share it around with some hearty sides and get your fingers dirty. This is proper good time food. And let me tell you there are some real treats on the menu, including some surprisingly good veggie options for those friends who don’t want to indulge in the chooks. You can see the Yard & Coop Menu by clicking the link.
If you’ve still got room after your mains then there are a few delicious dessert options to make sure you are fully satiated. But seriously, one thing you won’t be doing is leaving this place hungry!
“We’ve eaten a lot of chicken in our time. We’ve tried a lot of marinades, a whole load of sauces and we’ve fried up a shed load of crumbs. And then we discovered the secret recipe for our very own buttermilk fried chicken. We think it’s pretty special. You should try it.”
