Zebra Katz is the capstone creation of New York multidisciplinary artist Ojay Morgan who, inspired by Nina Simone, Andre 3000, Missy Elliot, James Blake, and Lauryn Hill,Morgan, has cultivated a signature and unique presence all his own. Fresh on the scene he’s already taken the fashion and hip hop worlds by storm! Pulling from a multimedia and performance art background, Zebra Katz brings a slo-mo dark delivery to his rhymes, which are set over a minimal, unencumbered beat.

Having shared the stage with artists from Diplo to The Scissor Sisters, Lana Del Ray and Azealia Banks, his lives shows are not to be missed, and have been enjoyed by audiences worldwide. Tonight he gets set to grace the stage at Soup Kitchen for what promises to be an incredible show.

After 9 years featuring too many parties and festivals to remember, a few record releases, holding down a bar session or two across town, and hosting a load of free downloads and mixes through their website, Mind On Fire have gone from fresh faced youths to bearded old timers, collaborating with some of our favourite artists and collectives on the planet along the way. Nine years have passed and we want you to come and party with us. To celebrate they’ve invited some their favourite DJs in Manchester to come down and play, as well as the full team of MOF residents, and of course the only thing they can’t party without is you! Head down to Soup Kitchen and hear from Peter Parker (Fingathing), Jonny Dub (Hoya:Hoya) and the Mind On Fire DJs, with the night all hosted by Dayse. Don’t forget to buy a card! There will be cake, obviously.

This Saturday Si Forestiero takes control of the decks at Funkademia, which takes place every Saturday to a consistently full house, feeding a friendly crowd with a diet of pure unadulterated soul-funk with the dj collective taking you on a journey through four decades of the very best soul, funk, electric disco and hip-hop with a touch of smooth r&b and some big house classics.

This Northern Quarter stalwart sells out most weeks so you’re advised to either arrive early or purchase advance tickets.

The Dub Jazz Soundsystem are a booty shaking, mind-bending mix-up of heavy dub and psychedelic modal jazz, brought to you by a mischievous collective of jazz dissidents and session musician monsters from across the country. Featuring musicians from The Riot Jazz Brass Band, Skamel and Marley Chingus this exciting project brings together their virtuosic jazz backgrounds with their love of the skanked-up grooves of dub and reggae. The resulting music is a breathtaking combination of bass-heavy, down-tempo, dub grooves and far-out modal-jazz explorations.

Evoking the afro-funk of Mulatu Atstake, the exuberant folk of Flook, and the blues of Junior Wells without ever sounding contrived or unoriginal, Honeyfeet have in Ríoghnach Connolly one of the most striking frontwomen on the scene at the moment. Also guesting tonight are very special sets by Ottersgear and Liz Green. Decks spun by DJ Coops.
