Space Monkeys were the last ever band signed by Tony Wilson to the seminal Factory Records Label, after spotting them play a gig in the basement of the Hacienda in 1995. Two years later the band sold a quarter of a million records worldwide through the success of the Billboard top 40 hit ‘Sugar Cane‘. Ian Brown, Liam Gallagher and Irvine Welsh were all spotted at Space Monkeys gigs in the late 90’s. The cult Manchester band are back to play Band on the Wall for a special hometown show, following a string of sold out reunion shows and festival appearances at Kendal Calling and the Shiiine On Weekender, 2016.

They do love a bit of brass at Matt & Phred’s and they are excited to introduce the latest young Brass outfit to the club tonight. Heralding from the Birmingham Conservatoire, Heavy Beat Brass remix modern Jazz, Pop and Funk music with the sounds of a roaring New Orleans brass band. The band is inspired by the heavy drum beats of modern day second line brass music and tonight they will be playing a wide variety of original brassy compositions as well as classic and modern pop tunes remixed with the sounds of a New Orleans brass band, combining jazz influences and improvisation with Hip-Hop & RnB, Drum & Bass, Reggae and much more.
