Legendary post punk, indie, band The Monochrome Set, featuring original members Bid (Vocals) and Andy Warren (Bass) with John Paul Moran on keyboards and Mike Urban on drums. Formed in 1976 as The B-Sides, the band soon became The Monochrome Set and were heavily influential in the “post punk” scene that evolved after the initial scorched earth of punk. Check them out tonight, along with support The Things at Gullivers tonight.

As part of their new Saturday early evening live music gigs, Matt & Phreds welcome Jeremy Sassoon to the club. Manchester based Jazz & Blues singer pianist Jeremy is one of the UK’s most in-demand singer/pianists. Either solo, or accompanied by his band, he captivates audiences with his natural, soulful voice, and a repertoire of his arrangements of Jazz and Blues classics and songs spanning a wide breadth of genres. Jeremy will be doing a solo set on piano spanning genres of Jazz, Blues and Soul. Jazz standards through the music of Ray Charles, Mose Allison and Sam Cooke. Arrangements of Joni Mitchell, Bob Marley, Glen Campbell and Jimi Hendrix and Amos Milburn will feature throughout the hour long gig.

Dance-crashing British 8-piece, The Indecision, were raised on the soulful ska of Studio One. Authenticity coupled with deft songwriting skill, and forward thinking respect for the sounds of 1960s Jamaica, David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan recently placed the band in his illustrious BBC list of the ‘Best of British Reggae’. Having already shared the stage with legends of the genre such as The Skatalites, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Don Letts, Bob Andy, Neville Staple and The Slackers and performed at UK festivals including Boomtown, Tramlines, One Love, Threshold and Smugglers, The Indecision are now working on more new material, but tonight they are playing for your entertainment at Matt & Phreds.
