Record Store Day & Night
Once again, Eastern Bloc are getting fully involved with Record Store Day. This is the 10th year and they have a very special day planned. As well as focussing on hand picking and selecting all the best records all year round from all of their regular distributors, they will be stocking key official RSD titles. On top of this they will be turning their sound system on at 8am with DJ’s planned from 9am til 4am. Yes, thats 19 hours of music, covering everything they love; Funk / Soul / Afro / Hip Hop / Disco / Reggae / Outernational / House / Broken Beats / Jazz / Latin / Techno / Electronica / Jungle / D&B / Weirdness and everything else in between. Playing through those 19 hours will be Hidden Spheres, Konny Kon, Samuel Kerridge, Acre, DJ Bobafatt, Rikki Humphrey, KERRIE, Tom Boogizm, Antidote, Space Afrika, Will Boyd, Means&3rd, Vendel, Karl Roscoe, Darryl Marsden, Battlestar Mancunia, Air Adam, Tom Houghton, Akaram, Black Eyes, Eskiturks and Will T. Phew!

To tie in with Record Store Day 2017, and to celebrate the launch of the 9th Soundwave Festival in Croatia, the folks at Eastern Bloc have combined forces with First Word Records to throw down a mother of a party at Stage & Radio. Passing through on behalf of First Word Records will be Mr Thing, Children of Zeus, DJ Gilla and BobaFatt, and they will be joined in the basement by Swindells and Jim Bane, while Jesterman and Taste The Difference will be in the upstairs bar.

Matt & Phreds
Skamel will be playing a mixture of original tunes taken from their two albums (Skamel and C’est Un Safari) and Ska and Reggae classics from the past 60 years at Matt & Phred’s tonight. You’ll hear well-known tunes ranging from the early Ska of the Skatalites, through the Paragons, Gregory Isaacs and Horace Andy, to the Two-Tone of the Specials – expect a night of high-energy skanking!

This Saturday Adam Unsworth takes control of the decks at Funkademia, which takes place every Saturday to a consistently full house, feeding a friendly crowd with a diet of pure unadulterated soul-funk with the dj collective taking you on a journey through four decades of the very best soul, funk, electric disco and hip-hop with a touch of smooth r&b and some big house classics.

Multi-disciplined and self taught musician, Barry Adamson has been creating all of his life. He rose to prominence as the bass player in Magazine and toured extensively. His establishment as a solo artist came after a three year stint with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and heralded the release of his seminal first solo album, ‘Moss Side Story‘.
