Told you it was a busy night at AATMA! Straight after the bands it’s on to the DJs as River People continues with their series of events bringing together a revolving group of like minded DJ’s with an across the board music policy. For their second party they are showcasing their crack team of four residents, Horace James, Kelvin Brown, SNO and Bobby James, bringing together a group of selectors who span both generations and continents. These 4 music obsessives come from a diverse range of backgrounds, representing both stalwarts of the music scene’s old as well as the new generation of young selectors currently making their mark in Manchester, with backgrounds varying from born and bred Mancunians, through to a relocated South African.

It’s the long awaited relaunch of the legendary weekly ‘Mrs Boon’s Tea Party‘ at Black Dog Ballroom as Mrs Boon serves up her amazing homemade cakes while Mr Boon spins the tunes. There’s live music at 3pm from Manchester’s most talked about new band, Cabbage with ‘Story Time’ for the kids to follow. Perhaps most importantly there’s free tea!

Heading to Gullivers tonight is Mishka Shubaly a guy who has played gigs in thirty-seven US states and several countries, released an album in 2015 called ‘Coward’s Path‘ which is a tragic, funny and always honest account of his former life dealing with addiction and what happened along the path to sobriety. Johnny Depp called it, “Always a favourite – sublime!” and comedian Doug Stanhope says, “If you have ever considered committing suicide at happy hour, Mishka Shubaly is the singer-songwriter for you.”. If that’s you’re kind of thing then get to the gig tonight where Mishka is supported by J D Kelleher.

Bleeding with Mother is a dark comedy about family, money and mortality set in the home of Sal Nolan who has been laid out in a coffin the night before her funeral. Written by Sarah Cassidy, it is a farce full of familiar kitchen sink drama characters including nosey neighbours, a daughter working three jobs to make ends meet and a son worried about everything from his thinning hair to his waning marriage. Set to the music of The Smiths, it is brought to you by Room 5064 Productions and previews at Gulliver’s at 2pm today and tomorrow.

So Flute are back in The Still, less glamorously known as the Whiskey Jar basement and they are buzzing now that Carhartt Work In Progress are sponsoring all future So Flute events. They promise some interesting stuff in the coming months. Tonight though it’s all about headliner Garth Be and support, Bolts, Danuka, Yadava and Baloo. Their past two shows have both sold out in advance so they advise purchasing tickets before the day of the party as capacity is only 170.
