What's On in the Northern Quarter, Saturday 20th September 2014

Night & Day
The Slow Readers Club / The Reveurs

The Slow Readers club are widely acknowledged as one of Manchester’s best emerging artists and are a band who’s output ranges from insanely catchy upbeat indie to angry, introspective downbeat ballads. Their music has drawn comparisons with Interpol, The Killers and Arcade Fire and tonight they bring their unique blend of music to Night & Day Café along with support from The Reveurs, Hey Sholay and Morning Pilgrims to launch their new single ‘Don’t Mind‘.

Awash with Doves-ish sweeping melancholy with splashes of The Chameleons and Ian Brown’s solo work, the album’s 12 tracks evoke the palpable sense of a band being suffocated by their surroundings, the bittersweet soundtrack of young men waiting for life to start broadcasting in technicolour” – CityLife.co.uk

Featuring musicians from The Riot Jazz Brass Band, Skamel and Marley Chingus this exciting project brings together their virtuosic jazz backgrounds with their love of the skanked-up grooves of dub and reggae.
