Whatever else the 2oth of April 2013 might be one thing is for certain it is looking like another triumph for music and independent record shops as Record Store Day is celebrated up and down the country. The Northern Quarter has it’s fair share or indie record shops and we also have a decent number of venues helping to celebrate with events. Those at Kraak, Soup Kitchen and Common are below and elsewhere on the site, but here at The Castle Hotel it’s the turn of Carefully Planned to put on another all dayer, number 16 no less, with enough bands playing to keep you entertained and amused from start to finish. The full line up is below and it’s only a fiver to get in. Enjoy and have fun celebrating RSD13, hope you get the vinyl you are after!

Upstairs from Noon until 3am is the free party with DJs Annabel Fraser, Pasta Paul and Jon K, meanwhile first up downstairs from 11am until 7pm is Record Store Day (Live), a showcase of some of Manchester’s finest local acts Heart-ShipsG R E A T W A V E SKult CountryChampion LoverWeird EraFrancis Lung and Bloom, all for £3. Then from 8.30pm until 10.30pm it’s Shackleton alongside Conor Thomas and guests for £10, and to finish things off Soup Kitchen regulars Swing Ting have a night of soul, rap, reggae, ruff house, garage, grime and jungle from 11pm – 3.30am for £5.
