Jonny Brown, Night & Day

Night & Day
Jonny Brown

Frontman and mastermind of Oldham’s favourite Punk band, Jonny Brown will headline Night & Day for the first time in seven years. So Twisted Wheel is off the wagon and Jonny Brown is on it. The demise of the band seemed improbable for as long as Brown was alive and kicking. Having weathered three break-ups and new line-ups, it was beginning to look like the Sugarbabes of rock. Until the spring of 2014 when, after the rigours of a radical rake-over, he emerged realising disappointing expectations was less of a failure than neglecting an unfulfilled calling. Twisted Wheel inevitably served its purpose but now it’s time for Jonny Brown to make good on his long-overdue promise.

Luke Daniels, Castle Hotel

The Castle Hotel
Luke Daniels

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Luke Daniels is proud to announce the release of his new album ‘What’s Here, What’s Gone‘. Immaculate acoustic guitar playing and insightful, honest lyrics exploring love, life, doubt and faith and the idea that happiness and hope spring from what we have in common, rather than what we can acquire as individuals. Daniels is one of the UK’s most gifted and inventive musicians and, having found a new voice as a song-writer and folk vigilante, is excited to be taking his contemporary acoustic folk in a new direction. What’s Here, What’s Gone is an album full of memorable and uplifting melodies, blending folk, blues and gospel alongside Luke’s outstanding, warm, honey-coated, yet attention-grabbing vocals. Check him out tonight at Night & Day along with some special guests.

Pere Ubu, BOTW

Band On The Wall
Pere Ubu  / Dj Michael Craddock

The Pere Ubu project was supposed to be an end, not a beginning. Assembled in August 1975 to be the Crosby Stills Nash & Young of the Cleveland music underground, the plan was to record one, maybe two singles and exist no more. 39 years later they defined the art of cult; refined the voice of the outsider; and inspired the likes of Joy Division, Pixies, Husker Du, Henry Rollins, REM, Sisters of Mercy, Thomas Dolby, Bauhaus, Julian Cope and countless others. See these musical lynchpins tonight at Band On The Wall with DJ Michael Craddock filling in the gaps.
