Since late 2011, Antics has been showcasing the best new bands that most of your family would probably hate. It all started at The Ferret in Preston and now it’s making waves here at Night & Day Café instead. If live music from some of the best bands about (Move, Demur and HAPI) isn’t enough for punters, after they’ve finished, the night goes from showcase to party as tonight EMI/Virgin’s latest signing Blossoms continue their residency joining the antics’ residents on the decks playing a mix of cult indie, electronica, disco and Psychedelia until Antics DJs take the helm.

In association with Band on the Wall, Roadblock bring the Knights of the Sound Table. Gordon West has played countless gigs over 25 years, and now broadcasts weekly out of The Gambia. Denton born Mike Shaft is a BBC regular with a bent for contemporary Christian music. Hewan Clarke was an original Factory resident who has watched the city and the scene grow around him, and DJ Sam Brown’s North Manchester FM Old Skool show provides a platform to alternative urban and soul acts. Between these four kings there’s over a century’s service to the culture of Manchester music, it’s sure to be a full bodied night of old Skool Soul.
