It’s very nearly Christmas – and nobody wants to be all alone at Christmas – so join Manchester’s “big queer film club” for one of their world famous interactive showings…and what festive film deserves the hands on treatment more than Chris Colombus and John Hughes’ holiday home invasion comedy Home Alone. There’ll be booby traps, a Christmas party soundtrack (By Drunk At Vogue’s Thom Docking), a 90s nostalgia Christmas gift tombola and they’re even going to get a visit from a real life pizza delivery boy (serving us cheese pizza and pepsi) – keep the change ya filthy animal! It’s gonna be a wild start to the most wonderful time of year and they’ll be donating a couple of quid from your ticket to LGBT Homeless Charity George House Trust.

As part of their new Saturday early evening live music gigs, Matt & Phreds welcome Jeremy Sassoon to the club. Manchester based Jazz & Blues singer pianist Jeremy is one of the UK’s most in-demand singer/pianists. Either solo, or accompanied by his band, he captivates audiences with his natural, soulful voice, and a repertoire of his arrangements of Jazz and Blues classics and songs spanning a wide breadth of genres. Jeremy will be doing a solo set on piano spanning genres of Jazz, Blues and Soul. Jazz standards through the music of Ray Charles, Mose Allison and Sam Cooke. Arrangements of Joni Mitchell, Bob Marley, Glen Campbell and Jimi Hendrix and Amos Milburn will feature throughout the hour long gig.

Dana Ali Band
The Dana Ali Band is a Neo-Soul band formed by husband and wife Dave Hewitt and Dana Ali, the band takes elements of Blues, Jazz, Soul, R&B and Funk to create a fresh and distinctive sound. Taking her influences from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Eva Cassidy and Roberta Flack, to name but a few, Dana started singing Gospel music in the churches of Atlanta GA. With experience singing in front of large audiences in churches, conferences, choirs and plays, Dana decided to take her performing career to another level. Collaborating with Dave Hewitt and Alan Shacklock (from the British band Babe Ruth), Dana Ali started recording material in Nashville for her solo project. After moving to the UK, Dana now performs and tours with her band, which she will be doing at Matt & Phreds tonight.
