The Seshen is a San Francisco Bay Area-based seven-piece led by singer/lyricist Lalin St. Juste and bassist/producer Akiyoshi Ehara. Their forward-thinking sound combines synthesizers, drum machines, live percussion, and entrancing harmonies to create an unmistakable fusion of R&B, synth-pop, and electronic music. Their unique alchemy of seemingly disparate sounds has led fans and critics alike to describe the band as defying categorization. For tonight’s show in the Soup Kitchen basement are Sophra and Iora.

henge, ruby lounge

The Ruby Lounge
Henge

Attention Earth! This is Henge. We come in the name of rave. We bring you the gift of Cosmic Dross – a kind of music that is new to your world. We have news. Planet Earth is an experiment. Your species was sent codes from space, to help you love and dance. But your leaders grew scared. They hid the codes from you. Now your consciousness shrinks and they destroy your world with weapons of war. Ravelings of Earth, rebel! Absorb the mutated frequencies of Cosmic Dross. There are no Earth words to describe these sounds. But you will learn how to love and dance again. This is your future. Put down the weapons. Unite. And colonise space.” So yeah, that’s Henge. They are supported tonight at The Ruby Lounge by Good Foxy.

the answer, band on the wall

Band On The Wall
The Answer

Band On The Wall welcome Irish rock gods The Answer to celebrate the release of their new LP, ‘Solas‘. A decade into the band’s career, Solas marks a significant turning point for The Answer and in particular lead singer Cormac Neeson. After their 2015 US Raise A Little Hell tour, the band returned to a scene of utter emotional and financial chaos with matters escalating further for Neeson, when his newly born son, Dabhog, arrived into the world three months premature with multiple health issues. After four months of fighting for his life in a nightmarish world of ventilators, blood transfusions and an enveloping fear of the unknown, it was time for The Answer to return yielding a newfound strength. For this they turned inwards to their culture, and their deep-rooted sense of ‘Irishness’. Support comes from Black Cat Bones.
