Fuzzbox, Ruby Lounge

The Ruby Lounge
We’ve Got A Fuzzbox And We’re Gonna Use It

Fuzzbox shot out of Birmingham in 1985 as four teenage friends cutting loose and having a laugh, using music as an outlet for their youthful energy. In a few whirlwhind years they became the most successful instrument-playing female band in British pop history, a record they still hold today. Originally a quartet comprising Vix, Maggie Dunne, Jo Dunne and Tina O’Neill, their name was inspired by the device used to create the buzzsaw guitar sound they wanted. Tragically, much loved guitarist Jo Dunne passed away in 2012 – but the Fuzzbox story isn’t over. Vix and Maggie have assembled an exciting new line-up to take the band into a bright new chapter. They’ll pay tribute to Jo and celebrate the remarkable things they achieved together, smashing rules and regulations and capturing the Fuzzbox sound and spirit. Support for this show at The Ruby Lounge comes from Queen Bee and the Drones and Sittin’ Pretty.

Haelos, Night & Day

Night & Day

“Some things come together immediately. Others… take a little time. LOS – known individually as Arthur Delaney, Dom Goldsmith and Lotti Benardout – fall into the latter bracket. But the way the music comes out sounding, you know it couldn’t have happened any other way. Each one of their vividly cinematic tracks seems to map the long journey from desperation to relief, stress to sanctuary – the basic dynamic of all urban life. If London tends to be a meandering, alienating hometown, there is a looming sense to HÆLOS’ music of a band – of three people – having found each other. Eventually.” Check out their live show, along with their support, at Night & Day tonight.
