deadpan jazz band, matt phreds

Matt & Phreds
The Deadpan Jazz Band

The Deadpan Jazz Band is a creative enterprise founded by members of The After Hours Quintet, Alligator Gumbo (both M&P regulars) & Kibitz (Leeds based Klezmer band) bringing together dance, circus, clowning, dark clowning, story telling & burlesque in a uniquely entertaining, improvisational musical performance. Their Hot Jazz Sound is largely forged in the fiery hot furnace that was 1930s New Orleans, with excursions in to Bluegrass, Balkan and Klezmer. The more theatrical aspects of the collective may be played down for this session, but the band will sneak some surprises into the night at Matt & Phred’s for good measure!
