The Ruby Lounge
The Chords UK (featuring Chris Pope)

The Chords UK is the current incarnation of Mod-Punk Mega Group The Chords who last played Manchester in 1980 and features original member Chris Pope. Chris is able to combine the past and present into what will prove to be a killer live performance still with the venom and passion of the 70s/80s shows but now also with the style and grace of someone that really has nothing left to prove. Tonight at The Ruby Lounge support will come from The Speed Of Sound and The Transmitters.

“As savage as (Pete) Townshend with toothache… Ace.” ~ Uncut magazine

“Loud, sweeping, righteous, and verging on the bombastic, it’s cut-the-crap stuff…it’s good to have him back.” ~ Record Collector Magazine

Dancers Wanted for FYI Chris / Ruf Dug

September sees Ruf Dug welcoming FYI Chris to the Soup Kitchen basement. Super fresh talent from the incredibly fertile London suburb of Peckham, this pair of pals – both named Christopher – can usually be found behind the counter at Rye Wax, the record shop / party zone that has become one of the key spots in the SE15 revolution that’s been taking place over the last couple of years. Their partnership goes beyond the record shop, however, as they also have been jamming out some amazing house music, already notching up releases on hyper influential South London imprints Church and Rhythm Section where they’ve showcased a dusty, raw, beat-driven house sound that is just perfect for the smoky red den at the Soup Kitchen.
