Hotly tipped Bristol newcomers The Shimmer Band came flying out of the traps into 2017 with their new single ‘Jackknife & The Death Call‘. “Muscular, smashing drums and a thunderous bass are shot through with lightning-bolt synthesiser hooks and guitars that shift from unhinged punk rock attitude to Dr Dre inspired hip hop motifs, all crowned with Tom Newman’s astonishing vocal performance to deliver their deftly visceral lyrics”. Tonight they headline the show at Soup Kitchen with some yet to be named guests in support.

Limbo Radio have teamed up with Hinterland to bring you an intimate evening of music with jack-of-all-trades Felix Manuel, AKA Djrum. With over a dozen releases under his belt, spanning Dubstep, Jungle, Techno and Breakbeat, it’s difficult to know what to expect in Manuel’s DJ sets but you can find out if you get yourself down into the basement at Soup Kitchen where Djrum will be performing for 4 hours! Support will come from Limbo Radio and Less Effect resident Lack, who’ll be providing warm up selections on the evening.

Band on the Wall are thrilled to welcome them back in celebration of their new LP ‘Dread Times‘. Their old skool dread sound comes bubbling to the surface on this album and live performances, digging deeper into their dub and reggae roots whilst still keeping the beats fresh and the textures electronic. Since their inception in 1993, Dreadzone have steadily been bettering, refining and perfecting their own unique and inimitable take on dub – mixed as it is with aspects of dance, sublime guitar riffs, folk roots sentiments and breakbeat bass styles – whilst bringing the party to every club, dancehall and field they’ve shown up at.

The Blueswater are an award-winning act from Edinburgh who regularly perform across Scotland and the UK. The band brings in the sounds of gritty old-school rhythm and blues, drawing inspiration specifically from the Chicago blues style of Chess records, building guitar riffs and harmonica solos around a tight rhythm section. The Blueswater will be breaking out a mixture of the best gritty old-school rhythm and blues songs, their own original material, and the occasional wild jam at Matt & Phred’s tonight.
