Mike Bladen, Castle Hotel

The Castle Hotel
Mike Bladen / Chris Hapgood / James Wyatt

Mike Bladen is a 26 year old singer/songwriter originally from Chester but now based in Manchester. Mike writes honest music using clever hooks and honest story telling with a melodic nod to past relationships with old friends, lovers and family played on acoustic sounding guitars with a solid percussive undertone and drenched in warming vocal harmonies. Armed with his band, Mike takes to the stage to tell stories you can’t help but relate to and by the end of his set, sing along to. He is joined at The Castle Hotel tonight by special guests Chris Hapgood and James Wyatt.

Mr Heart, Gullivers

Gullivers
Mr Heart / Super Fast Girlie Show

Gullivers host an explosive evening of noise with Manchester based Mr Heart, and Liverpool based Super Fast Girlie Show coming to town. Mr Heart screech, wail, and shudder through their live set. Their intensity of sound immerses listeners and keeps them guessing with interesting rhythms and a rollercoaster of dynamic. Flailing guitars give way to menacing beats and rumbling bass, whilst urgent vocals soar above the post-punk chaos. A band not to be missed (Salford Music). Sounds alright!

Son of Dave, Soup Kitchen

Soup Kitchen
Son of Dave / The Church

Son of Dave releases his seventh studio album – this time, a collection of cover tunes, packaged up like the old K-Tel Super Hits compilations from the 1970s. A UK tour to accompany the album is of course the tradition, and his ever-growing all-ages eclectic fanbase will be there, rowdy and willing to participate. It’s certainly the best and most energetic one-man show you’ll find, with hardcore fans regularly travelling long distances to see him many times. Support comes from The Church, a non-stop party church service featuring the best soul, blues and disco tunes fronted by insane Pastor and Pentecostal pervert Rev. Michael Alabama Jackson. By the end you’ll be on your knees praying for more – think Sister Act on speed!
