Greg Holden

Night & Day Cafe
Greg Holden + Seamus Mcloughlin + Tibi & Her Cello + Ogo

Greg Holden is a Scottish-born, English-raised songwriter currently living in New York City, a place he dreamed of living all his life. Since moving there three years ago, he has self-released three records, toured the United States supporting indie starlet Ingrid Michaelson on her Sold Out ‘Everybody Tour’ and toured Europe numerous times, sometimes selling out shows months in advance. Most recently, with his #1 Single in Holland “The Lost Boy”, he sold out all his Dutch shows two months before his Spring 2012 tour had even started.

His eagerly awaited second studio album “I Don’t Believe You” (funded almost entirely by his fans after raising a staggering $30,000 in one month on Kickstarter.com), produced by Tony Berg (Bob Dylan, Weezer, Aimee Mann) was released digitally in May 2011 and debuted at #6 in the UK & US iTunes Singer/Songwriters Charts, and all three of his self-released records have been featured in the iTunes ‘Best Singer/Songwriters’, ‘New & Noteworthy’ and ‘What We’re Listening To’ categories. But when Greg wrote “The Lost Boy” in late December 2011 he had no idea that two weeks later his home recorded demo would be the Christmas Day #1 Single on iTunes in Holland, nor that it would raise over €32,000 for Red Cross during Radio 3FM’s annual charity campaign, Serious Request, nor that on Christmas Eve he’d be playing that song on Dutch National TV in front of an 8,000 strong audience and millions of viewers at home.

Tonight Greg comes to Night & Day Cafe as part of his headlining European tour with support from Seamus McLoughlin, Tibi and Her Cello and Ogo.

You can hear more of Greg’s musical talents below, and find out more on his website.

Band On The Wall
Ceu & Curumin

Band On The Wall host Céu tonight as part of her first ever UK tour in support of her new album ‘Caravana Sereia Bloom’. This Brazilian singer song-writer has been captivating audiences worldwide with her mesmerising and unique blend of bossa nova rhythms, electronica, soul-infused samba, jazz, reggae and dub and has earned herself both Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, countless press accolades, and chart topping numbers. Céu is the biggest selling Brazilian artist in the UK and hails from Sao Paulo, the intensely urban, forward-looking megalopolis of the tropics, the epicentre of the independent music scene in Brazil and a buzzing hotbed of invention and musical breakthrough.

“Sleek and assured, drawing on everything from Kingston dub to psychedelic rock, Erykah Badu-style R & B and cool jazz, all draped in elegant bossa shades.” ~ The Sunday Times

“If she’s this good live she deserves to become Brazil’s next internationally acclaimed celebrity.”The Guardian

“Ceu is an immensely appealing young singer from Brazil. While rooted in samba and bossa nova, her music also reflects the singer’s interests in reggae, electronica, vintage jazz and soul.” ~ Time Out Magazine,  New York

Support comes from Céu’s fellow countryman and rising tropicalia pop funk star, Curumin.  A wonderful singer and multi-instrumentalist from the same scene as CSS and Telepathique, he spices up his samba funk with hip hop, dub and psychedelic infusions.

Go Dumb April at Kraak

Go Dumb presents Tom Caruana + AnD + Pete Cannon + more

The good folk at Go Dumb present a packed bill headlined by ‘Mr Wu Tang versus The Beatles’, Tom Caruana. This producer’s experience ranges from working with rappers, singers and musicians in studio and live environments. He’s also renowned through a series of remix albums including Wu Tang versus the Beatles ‘Enter the Magical Mystical Chambers’ which received over 50,000 downloads in its first two months of release before being withdrawn for copy write infringement reasons! He is not only a master of blending samples; he is also a multi instrumentalist playing drums, bass, guitar and keyboards. You can check out some of his work over on his SoundCloud.

“Caruana is a producer of considerable imagination, skill and potential” ~ The Guardian

Caruana is joined on the bill by AnD and Pete Cannon. Enigmatic Mancunian duo AnD famously rose to prominence in 2011 after a slew of ground breaking releases characterised by their refurbished, stripped back and Dave Clarke inspired brand of techno. True vinyl purists, the two maintain strong analogue production ethics and showcase this in their heavy hitting live show. Pete Cannon is one of the best hip hop producers in the UK right now working with artists such as Sway, Dr Syntax, Million Dan, Stig of the Dump, Sonny Jim, Panchi, Nutso, Torae and Punchlyne to name a few. Pete is a huge fan of synths, Amiga computers, badass beats, samples and bass lines. This will be Pete’s first solo show at our night and you can get a feel for what to expect on his SoundCloud. Plus Dr Syntax will be on hosting duties and Go Dumb! residents fill in the gaps with a whole stack of floor fillers.
