What's on in the Northern Quarter ~ Friday 16th August

Soup Kitchen
3rd Birthday Party

Soup Kitchen have been throwing parties in their basement for 3 years now and what better way to celebrate than to throw another party! They’ve asked one of their oldest friends to come down and play for them and he’s said yes so look forward to this special guest and also the talents of some of Soup Kitchen’s favourite DJs, the amazing Ruf Dug, Soup resident Macca and Dan Hampson. If that wasn’t enough of an incentive to join them for this party there will be free booze until you drink it all. So not long then, get there early and booze and space will be limited!

Alpha Male Tea Party, Kraak

Alpha Male Tea Party with Cleft / Bearfoot Beware / Sam Walter

SSD is proud to bring another night of hi-jinks and rock and/or roll to our fair city with Alpha Male Tea Party, Cleft, Bearfoot Beware and Sam Walter on the bill. Alpha Male Tea Party are a post-rock meets progressive rock (think Oceansize) with a lot of riffs thrown in for good measure. Their new EP is out on the 26th of August as a free download and CD via SSD. Alex Baker from Kerrang said “holy fuck” when he heard them (true story). Cleft play insane mathy riff rock awesomeness which they called ‘turbo prog’ for a while. Bearfoot Beware play alternative rock with a mathy edge and Sam Walter made a name for himself on the UK folk scene after jumping onstage at Moseley Folk Festival between bands while working there. The year after he spent the summer playing folk and acoustic festivals all over the UK (invited this time) with just his voice and shruti box. Come down early and get drunk with some Napoleonic era drinking songs.
