TNQ Restaurant & Bar, Northern Quarter, Manchester

TNQ Restaurant & Bar do a lot of things very well, with excellent food, drink and service the norm at this Northern Quarter eaterie. But a good restaurant should always have a signature dish, something that when people are talking about said restaurant the conversation will always include the sentence “Have you tried the (insert name of dish) there?“. So what is the signature dish at TNQ Restaurant & Bar? Well that would be the Slow Cooked Pork Belly Ribs.

TNQ Restaurant & Bar, Ribs

TNQ Restaurant & Bar’s mouthwatering and highly addictive slow cooked pork ribs in an Asian influenced sauce have been created by the restaurant’s Head Chef, Anthony Fielden and with complete confidence in the fact that no matter how hard we try we won’t get them to taste as good as his he’s shared a few of the key ingredients he uses in the secret recipe he has been refining and perfecting for more than nine years:

Fennel seed
Star anise
Fresh orange juice
Soy sauce
Golden syrup

To cook:  Chop ribs to size then mix with all the ingredients.
Now cook for a long time on a low heat in the oven in a foil covered baking tray.

Well at least he’s given us a start. Just 9 years or so practice and we might have them tasting halfway decent! Alternatively you could just save yourself the hassle and get a free bowl of ribs cooked by the man himself. That sounds like a much better idea to me!

To launch GET RIBBED, TNQ Restaurant is hosting a ‘Rib Station’ on their High Street Terrace between Midday and 2pm on Tuesday 18th June 2013 so we can all find out for ourselves what the sticky fuss is about. All you have to do is tweet “@TNQrestaurant I want to #getribbed” to claim a bowl full of ribs. There will also be a competition to win dinner for two as a reward for the best photo taken of the ribs that is tweeted @TNQrestaurant on the day.

I suggest you do everything you need to do with your phone before you tuck into the ribs. Sticky sauce and mobile phone is not a pretty combination! (Someone should make a pair of glasses or something where you can take pics and tweet and stuff like that hands free so you can eat ribs without fear. If only Google would invent something!!)

The Northern Quarter is famous for many things and now there could be one more great reason to visit the area, the chance to try what TNQ Restaurant claim are “the best ribs in Manchester“. I can’t wait to find out just how good they are for myself….

  • Those ribs look amazing! I can’t wait to try them.

Congratulations to TNQ on the launch of #getribbed. I know a lot of people who absolutely love ribs so I’ll make sure they know about next Tuesday.
