Trof Trophy

This Sunday, 1st September our friends from Trof are gathering together with a whole crowd of Manchester’s musicians, promoters and venues to raise money for Manchester charity Lifeline. To achieve this they are competing in a five-a-side football tournament in which teams including Dutch Uncles, Common, Soup KitchenTravelling Band, Band On The Wall and Ear to the Ground will battle it out for the inaugural ‘Trof Trophy‘ plus a post match celebration and online auction.

In total sixteen teams will go head to head at the Ardwick Powerleague between 12pm and 4pm, rallying sponsorship through their JustGiving pages. The winning team will receive a full kit with personalised team crest designed and donated by Umbro. The competitive edge is already being shown as some of the teams have been busy designing their own team crests. Who are you backing?

Once the Champions are crowned and bragging rights are earned the fun will move to The Deaf Institute which will then be hosting post-match celebrations from 4pm with surprise guest DJs, a Trof Trophy quiz hosted by quiz masters Dutch Uncles plus some amazing money-can’t-buy prizes to be won. Entry is free and open to everyone.

To raise further funds for the charity, gig tickets, signed memorabilia and festival passes donated by the teams taking part will form a silent auction on Ebay which kicks off on 25th August and runs through til 4th September with all proceeds going direct to Lifeline. Lifeline works with individuals, families and communities both to prevent and reduce harm, to promote recovery, and to challenge the inequalities linked to alcohol and drug misuse.

Organiser Chris Horkan from promoters Hey! Manchester said: “It’s refreshing to see the musicians of Manchester engaging actively with a problem that affects so many. The Trof Trophy is a great way to unite and have fun while supporting a charity that does so much good.” Visit the JustGiving page to sponsor the teams.
