The Abel Heywood is a boutique hotel/pub/restaurant located just off Church Street, near the multi-storey NCP, right in the heart of the Northern Quarter, so an ideal place to stay when exploring the NQ being close to all the shopping, art, entertainment and everything else this area has to offer.
It’s not just an ideal base to explore the Northern Quarter though as you’re pretty much within a 15-30 minute walk of Manchester’s entire city centre, so leisure breaks and business stays (if you’re looking to book an event or meeting check out their Meetings & Events Brochure) are perfectly accommodated by The Abel Heywood boutique hotel, be that a short break or longer. The rooms in the boutique hotel are furnished to a very high standard, mixing modern facilities with a unique design that gives their guests a perfectly comfortable stay.
As I live in the Northern Quarter I haven’t had much call for the hotel but the Pub and Restaurant is another story. The pub is full of character and warmth throughout and brings to mind a traditional pub, with a few flourishes that make it fit with the character of the Northern Quarter. Plus for those rare summer days there’s seats outside to enjoy a bit of sunshine and a nice cold pint.
Inside you will find a decent selection of ales including those brewed locally by their parent company Hydes and The Beer Studio, craft world beers, a fantastic range of gins and other spirits and of course all your favourite cocktails (well maybe not all but a lot!). Food is served from morning to night with brunch served until Midday if you fancy a lie in before you break fast. Their British Inspired Menu is then available all day until 10pm, with a mighty fine roast dinner available on Sunday, just as you would expect to find in any decent pub.
Since they opened The Abel Heywood has made a name for itself with its regular pub quizzes, which have had special themes like Harry Potter, Friends, Star Wars and lots more. Check out their Twitter feed to keep an eye on what’s going on (or of course just keep an eye on ours).
Whether you need a room, something to eat or drink, to test your brain or maybe all four, The Abel Heywood is the spot for you.
