Teacup sits in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter on Thomas Street and serves up delicious breakfasts, lunches & now evening meals alongside a menagerie of cakes and treats, all crafted from locally sourced organic produce wherever possible. Following a refurbishment and extension to the premises earlier this year it seems only right that Teacup should add to their menu and this is what they have done with the introduction of Supper & A Cuppa.
Supper & a Cuppa is a new evening service running Wednesdays to Saturdays from 6.30pm. Supper and a Cuppa combines the best possible produce in a quirky menu to bring you accessible food with a twist. There’s also a fantastic wine list and some spectacular desserts to accompany your supper.
The inspiration for Teacup‘s new menu comes from a passion for quality produce and exciting eating experiences, combined with a love of comfort food and casual dining. The kitchen is headed up by Chef John Farrar whose impressive credentials include working under legendary French Chef Pierre Koffman in London and Jeff Baker, Leeds’ first ever Michelin starred chef.
John combines his classic influences with Teacup’s quirky, homely qualities to create a comforting main menu featuring popular dishes with the emphasis on attention to detail and the best ingredients and the ever changing menu offers excellent eating in a relaxed setting, welcoming lone diners and walk-ins alongside the usual evening dining crowd. On the menu you will find authentic Himalayan momos, a hearty Shepherd’s Pie and the fantastic Fish Finger Feast – homemade fish fingers in Japanese breadcrumbs, served with a bag of thrice baked chips and rich tartar cream. Quirky touches like ‘reversed condiments’ add surprise to the menu, with spray-on salt and flakes of crystallized vinegar to season your meal. The menu changes daily and reflects the freshest produce so don’t be expecting to find strawberries in winter!
Teacup on Thomas Street is famed for its cakes, and they’ve used their baking expertise to create some truly inspired desserts. Top of the bill are the melting Valrhona Madagascan Chocolate Cake and the unique Teaberger Treat, which combines delicate Earl Grey icecream with rich crunchy caramel.
The new menu is accompanied by a lovely wine selection from Hanging Ditch, or you can have your usual brew in a teapot along with your food.
