The Northern Quarter is blessed with more than its fair share of fantastic places to get tea, coffee and more, each with their own atmosphere and niche and Sugar Junction Tearooms is no exception. Sugar Junction was born from a passion of baking, a love for good wholesome food, enthusiasm for beautifully unique drinks & of course a love for everything vintage.
Sugar Junction strives to provide and undoubtedly delivers on its promise of sublime surroundings, with carefully selected teas that are blended just for them, aromatic coffees and ingredients which are sourced from only the very best local suppliers. Everything in Sugar Junction is handpicked and homemade by their team and it is obvious when you walk through the door that the team love being there and adore what they serve.
With over 25 different teas especially blended for them by Blends for Friends you can brew up everything from the traditional Earl Grey and English Breakfast, to the exclusive Chinese gunpowder or Northern Quarter blends, to the delightful flowering teas served in glass teapots so you can watch them blossom as your tea brews. If coffee is more your bag then they serve up a Red Mile blend in whatever style you prefer. If you’d rather go for something a little more calorie laden then how about the ice cream filled milkshakes, a hot chocolate or perhaps something a little stronger from the wine list?
When you walk into Sugar Junction you can’t help but notice the cakes on the counter, they almost draw you in! They love their cakes at SJ and have at least seven different cakes available at any one time with a constantly changing selection meaning there’s something for everyone….or more importantly a good excuse to keep going back to see what’s new! Four of the Sugar Junction team make the cakes (at the moment they are A.J Holland aka Miss Kitch Cakes and Alexandra McCann aka Pin-Ups & Pinnies) baking up creations including the Triple Chocolate Malteaser Cake, the Hazelnut Hedgerow, mouth-watering vegan friendly cheesecakes and gluten and dairy free brownies.
Cakes are not the only form of sustenance and there is a delicious collection of Sugar Junction’s favourite recipes available, freshly prepared by their chefs Rachel, Nicola and Jocelyn who are all fanatical about their food. They use only the finest ingredients, including bread from Robinsons the Master Bakers who are the oldest family run bakery in Manchester and locally sourced free range meat from Frost Butchers in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. You’ll be served sensationally seasonal dishes of the best quality and if you fancy something ‘off-menu’ and they have the ingredients to make it they’ll knock it up for you. You can’t ask for much more really. If you want to see the full menu then you can download it here.
Afternoon tea is a quintessentially English tradition and one which is carried on every day at Sugar Junction who serve afternoon tea with a heavenly selection of freshly baked cakes, exquisitely soft and scrumptious sandwiches, and a pot of loose tea of your choice. For Afternoon Tea bookings they can cater for up to 30 guests and can customise the Afternoon Tea package to your liking, with Gluten & Dairy free cakes or the delightful option of adding prosecco or champagne.
You can also now take your Sugar Junction experience into the evening as they have introduced Cocktails & Cake, which frankly sounds like an amazing idea. They have some decent offers for the after work scene too which will most certainly help to ease you into the early evening.
