The Bank Holiday weekend is looking like a winner right here in the Northern Quarter. With all the great things going on at the Northern Quarter Takeover you might be forgiven for thinking that there really wasn’t room for any more street party action on the Bank Holiday Sunday…..well you would be wrong!

On Sunday 26th of August, between Noon and 9pm the guys from the Northern Quarter’s newest restaurant, Solita, will be hosting a massive charity street party on Turner Street all of their very own.

Solita In The Street, Sunday 26th August

The street food theme will see the Solita chefs bring their ‘fast becoming famous’ pulled pork sundaes, smoked brisket chilli dogs, Inka charcoal grilled burgers, Deep Fried Mac & Cheese Balls and Deep Fried Coke to the assembled masses (there is a limit of 500 people at the party at any one time, so make sure you are one of the lucky ones!). To add to the foodie fun they are going to host their very own Man Vs Food style challenges and a US style chilli cook off. Needless to say you will be able to wash all this down with suitable refreshments in true Solita style.

Of course any self-respecting street party needs entertainment and Solita In The Street is no exception. They’ve lined up some stellar talent to entertain us and there is more to be confirmed. So far on the bill are Gareth Brooks (XFM), Shameless’ Ciaran Griffiths, Irfan RainyClique DJs, Irish Mash & Joey B (Hotmilk, House or Die), Breadwinners, Dom aka King Spinna (Blood & Fire) and DJ Freddy Neal, plus a fantastic gospel choir to close the night out. If Gareth Brooks’ tweet below is to be believed they are going to be playing on an absolutely vast sound system!!

Solita In The Street does have a serious side in amongst all the fun and whilst the party is free they are going to be raising money for a very worthy Manchester cause, Wood Street Mission. Find out more about the work they do for local children and families here;  Wood Street Mission
