Vida’s original material is eclectic revealing many influences from classical to blues by way of celtic, african, middle-eastern and jazz but increasingly veering towards the experimental and ambient.Textures and rhythms are urgent complex compelling and hypnotic. Poetical lyrics and evocative video blended with polemics produce a potent and unique cocktail. Computers are used together with percussion keys and guitars. Challenging, unforgettable, unmissable. A great way to begin the night!

DJ Sotofett (Sex Tags Mania)

In 2002, two Norwegian brothers started their first label titled Sex Tags. The labels brief discography features only two 12″ vinyls and a cdr but would prove to be an important learning curve in how they wanted to handle future ventures in to the world of wax.

From 2004 the pair have been releasing records by a core group of friends that would form the foundations of what we now know as Sex Tags Mania (they also run sub-label Sex Tags Amfibia for non-house and techno). The output of Mania focuses on a raw and authentic analogue sound that seems to be in trend, but their output on the label is anything but conventional – most releases are weird and wonderful, often with a lo-fi aesthetic and a sense of a human imperfection.

Funkademia at Mint Lounge

Jamie Scahill, Les Croasdaile, Northern Funk with Myk Nolan

Funkademia takes place every Saturday to a consistently full house, feeding a friendly crowd with a diet of pure unadulterated soul-funk. We bill our night as a ‘chronological history of soul’ with our dj collective taking you on a journey through four decades of the very best soul, funk, disco and hip-hop with a touch of smooth r and b and some big house classics. Funkademia does sell out most weeks so you are advised to either arrive early or purchase advance tickets, this way you can avoid the queues or even the sold out sign.

Mondo Pop!
If it wasn’t for the outrageous blackmailing of the powers that be at Trof, Mof Gimmers would have never got the chance to share his love of outlandish pop music at his weekly, Saturday night musical variety show, Mondo Pop!

Until Trof gets the incriminating video tape from Mof’s cold, dead hands, he’ll spin soul, funk, disco, pop, rock and more from across the ages. So expect cheeky cover versions of songs you know and songs you haven’t heard for ages, but wish you had.

Feel free to ask him for requests. He might not have it, but he won’t sneer at you (in fact, he might try kissing you). Good vibes and dancing to be had ’til late! Dancing on tables encouraged.
