Pieminister -The Mothership

Pieminister is tucked away in the Northern Quarter on Church Street and has been serving up a wide range of delicious award-winning pies since 2013. This little pie paradise is a haven for pies (and more) and has secured a spot firmly in the hearts of city workers, visitors and students (& dogs! They are dog friendly), as a great place for delicious food and good times.

Pieminister, Platters

A family owned company that has been making pies in small batches in Bristol since 2003, Pieminister only use the finest, fresh ingredients and pride themselves on using 100% free range British meat. Their Classic pies are encased using two unique pastries: an all butter pastry base to hold all the delicious filing inside and a suet lid top, which gives the pie a lovely golden crisp finish in the oven.

Pieminister, Peas & pie

As well as a fantastic selection of Classic pies (there’s over 13 to choose from), a variety of gluten free pies and pastry-free skillets (if you don’t fancy pastry), they also offer tea, coffee and a great choice of cake. The restaurant is fully licensed so you can enjoy a beer or cider with your pie to complete the perfect pie, mash and pint experience – you can even take your pie away (hot or cold) to have later. Check out the Full Menu Here.

Some of their most popular pies on the menu are the Moo pie (a classic beef & ale pie), the Free Ranger (a creamy free range British chicken & ham pie with leek & thyme) and a vegetarian Heidi Pie (made with goats’ cheese, sweet potato, spinach & red onion). All 3 of these pies are also available as gluten free options (approved by Coeliac UK) with gluten free pastry.

Pieminister, mothership

If you’re visiting Pieminister for the first time, there really is only one word you need to know. The “Mothership” will complete your first real pie experience; a tower of buttery mash potato with a pie, minty mushy peas and gravy on top, all covered in cheese and sprinkled with crispy shallots. Not to be missed!

Hello! Are only the open top pies vegetarian? I presume this is because you use hot crust pastry with lard in, is that right?
