“Who ate all the pies, who ate all the pies……”
Pie & Ale are kicking off a Hot Pie Eating Challenge from Monday 3rd of February, and it is a challenge indeed! If you fancy having a go you will have to eat 3 freshly baked, piping hot pies served with 3 sides. Sound easy? Well you’ve got 10 minutes to do it!
Apparently that works out at over 3 1/2 lbs of food!
The entrance fee is £20 which covers your food. If you complete the pie challenge within 10 minutes you get back your £20 plus you win a exclusive “who ate all the pies” t-shirt. If you fail to complete the task in within 10 minutes but still clear the plate within 30 mins then you pay for your dinner but you’ll still walk away with a sense of achievement and with a t-shirt on your back! If you fail to complete the challenge in 30 minutes… then you’re a loser (but a full of delicious pie loser, so it could be much worse)!
The fastest times each week will go onto their leader board and the person with the best monthly time will receive a limited edition Pie & Ale tankard that will be engraved especially for you! If that’s not enough of a challenge for you and you want to be the fastest of them all then they will review all the winning times every quarter, and the quarterly winner will receive a free Firkin of Yipee Pie Ale to drink in Pie & Ale’s function room with your friends! Yes, that’s 72 pints of golden ale goodness!

If you don’t fancy the Pie Eating Contest you can give yourself a slightly different test and challenge your tastebuds with a taste of the exotic with some special pies which are now being served up at Pie & Ale.
To give you an idea of the kind of things you can expect these are the Exotic Pies currently up on the specials board…
- Back in the Game! – wild boar, pheasant & venison cooked with smoked bacon, porcini mushrooms, port & redcurrants
- Horses for (main) Courses! – diced horse steak with root veggies, whole grain mustard, white wine & cream
- Thai my Kangaroo down sport! – tender chunks of kangaroo cooked in Thai yellow curry spices with lemon grass, galangal & coconut milk
For the less adventurous the Exotic Pie range runs alongside old favourites such as Steak & Yippee Pie Ale, chicken & chorizo, 3 cheese and a range of vegetarian options. Mmmm, pie!
