From the stable of BAKERIE bread & wine bar and wine store comes yet another ‘freshly baked venture’ this time in the form of pies. Pie & Ale offers exactly what is says on the tin – freshly baked pies served with tankers of great real ales, craft beers and fine spirits. Situated at The Hive building on Lever Street in The Northern Quarter Arcade they are a real hidden gem so keep looking until you find them (if you’re coming from Stevenson Square walk past Bakerie and take the first left into Faraday Street and the arcade is on your right)!
Inside Pie & Ale you will find a large central bar with a mix of snug booths and high poseur tables spread across the ground and mezzanine floors, which allow for a sociable as well as intimate setting in a classic beer Keller meets Philippe Starck environment. The booths, all nine of them, come with plug sockets so you can power up and work whilst sampling the delights of what Pie & Ale has to offer.
But while the quality of the surroundings is of some importance, the real reason to visit is for the pies and the ales! Pie & Ale serves a selection of pie options from traditional 3 cheese & creamed leek or steak & ale to a more exotic range including crocodile, horse and Zebra. Vegetarian and vegan options are featured in their menu and on the specials board. Served with all the trimmings you have just arrived in pie heaven! Check out the menu Pie & Ale Summer Food Menu here.
Pie & Ale has two fully stocked bars with 8 rotating cask ales available from different micro-breweries and of course its own Yippee Pie Ale. The main bar host over 50 different craft beers from around the world along with a huge range of whisky and other fine spirits. Pie & Ale also have some of the best Happy Hour pricing around the Northern Quarter and Manchester as a whole. Check out the Pie & Ale Drink Menu for all the tasty options.
The beer hall in the adjoining room (which used to be the Bakerie Wine Store) is new to pie and ale in 2014 and is the perfect destination for the weekend’s drinking activities and a great place to start with a post-work Friday drink. Cocktails, beers and great music make this the new place to be in the Northern Quarter and is also available for hire.
