I’m pretty sure I won’t be alone in saying, I’m not a big fan of the Manchester Christmas Markets. An invasion of traders you don’t see from one year to the next (although to be fair, if the start date gets any earlier they will be here almost all year round), slinging tat and over-priced booze. There’s a few exceptions (go see our mates from Northern Soul if you are heading that way) and ok, I’m sure it’s great for the Manchester economy, but as a resident I’m after something with a little more soul. That’s why I’m excited to see what Off Markets Manchester bring to the NQ.

The alternate NQ Christmas markets launch in Manchester’s newest event space, on Saturday 9th December. Their aim is to provide “an interactive platform for both customers and business owners….engaging with local businesses and products in a stimulating environment“.

Open from Midday to 6pm, the upcoming launch will hold nothing back, and with Manchester’s beating creative heart firmly at the centre, you can expect the unexpected… from edibles to wearables and audibles to readables. Every sensory pleasure will be ticked, as you work your way through the NQ Winter Wonderland; you’ll find food lovers, fashionistas, ale drinkers, treasure seekers, and those just there for fun.

So who’s going to be trading there? Black Milk, serving up their amazing hot chocolates, Drapers Young Fashion Brand of the Year 2016 winners Native Youth with their contemporary lines, streetwear labels UN:IK & Critically Acclaimed, super skilled craftsmen Overdrawn with their LIVE art show, stacked high Big Grillie Style bringing their exclusive Yorkshire Pudding Christmas Wrap, NQ old schoolers Al Faisal with their Festive turkey curry, vegan options including Raw Bake Station’s treats and even a music production studio giving that DJ we all have inside of us a go. And of course, there will be booze!
