I’m sure by now you have heard that on the August Bank Holiday Sunday, 26th August, the streets are ours as it’s time for the Northern Quarter Takeover! Some of our favourite establishments in the Northern Quarter are putting on another street party, NQ style, across Thomas Street, Edge Street, Tib Street and High Street. As with the Jubilee Street Party we will be keeping you up to date on all the news about what’s on both here and over on our Twitter feed. NQManchester
N4LovesU Street Party
Thomas Street / Sunday 26th August / Noon – 9pm / FREE
Thomas Street is home to the N4LovesU party, a familiar name amongst the Northern Quarter street parties. N4LovesU brings together Thomas Restaurant & Bar, Marble Beers, Teacup and The Bay Horse for 9 hours of top street party action including 10 DJs and each venue will put their own unique spin on the day’s activities.
The Bay Horse will have Pints & Pitchers outside bar, a pop up thai curry house and from midday until it gets too busy (not long then!!) will also be having egg &spoon races, 3 legged races and a limbo pole, all in high heels!
Thomas will have a pop up terrace bar, cider bar and a pop up Paella stall & “all things nice”!
Teacup will be firing up the BBQ and shaking up some special summertime cocktails to celebrate the Northern Quarter Takeover so you can expect gourmet sausages, spicy momos and Pimm’s a-gogo!!
Marble Beers are really stepping up the game and are brewing a very special Northern Quarter Bitter. This “heavily hopped best bitter brewed to Northern Quarter standards” (whatever they might be!) will be available for the first time on the day of the NQTakeover.

Odd Street Party
Thomas Street / Sunday 26th August / Noon – 9pm / FREE
Joining the Thomas Street lineup is of course Odd, sat down at the High Street end of the action. They are going to regale us with a BBQ and an outside bar and fantastic music laid on by Clique DJs, Ste Spandex, Marc Dennis, Patrick and Dom Zube.

Blue Pig Street Party
High Street & Back Turner Street / Sunday 26th August / Noon – 9pm / FREE
Newly established on the High Street here in the Northern Quarter, and gathering quite a reputation as a top new destination, The Blue Pig are a welcome addition to the Northern Quarter Takeover. With their own spot seeing the closure of Back Thomas Street they can lay on a BBQ and entertain the crowds with DJs Simon Ozbizton, Dan English, Neil Scott and Pasta Paul, meanwhile inside they will be offering choices from their deli counter and will even be serving their 333 menu for the more discerning diner.

Edge Street Party
Edge Street / Sunday 26th August / Noon – 9pm / FREE
We know there “Ain’t no party like an Edge Street Party cause an Edge Street Party don’t stop*” and for the Northern Quarter Takeover it’s back and it’s promised to be “8% better than last time“. The party is brought to us by the friendly neighbours at Common and Home Sweet Home and Edge Street will be packed full for a day of live music, quiz time, DJs, food, drinks, games, art, bunting, and much more, all in support of Mind and Macmillan. Join them on the day for the Common BBQ, Portable Street Beer House, pints of Pimms, Elvis In Disguise, charity raffle, chilli dogs (with a veggie option available of course!), cakes, a veritable feast of DJs, the Home Sweet Home BBQ, ‘Bat The Rat‘ and more village fete type games to keep you occupied, along with a dog show!?!! High Street Party
High Street / Sunday 26th August / Noon – 9pm / FREE
The High Street will once again come alive with Keko Moku, Almost Famous, Socio Rehab, Bluu, The Market Restaurant and The Northern Quarter Restaurant. Expect a selection of BBQs (and the biggest queue for food anywhere in the street party at the Almost Famous stand!!) alongside a choice of bars and music from Johnny Dub, Rich Reason, Noel & Cutterz and the Soul Twins. If it’s anything like last time this will have a fantastic atmosphere and maybe even a repeat of the ‘hay storm’?!
