In the constantly changing and evolving bar scene in the Northern Quarter, Guilty By Association opened what seems like a long time ago, back in June 2014 in fact, bringing an underground drinking den to Stevenson Square which is inspired by the booming underground hip hop scene of New York during the 80’s and 90’s.

Once you head down the steps you’ll find yourself in a big open space, with plenty of concrete, exposed brickwork and ducting, and lots of tables, booths, nooks and crannies to make your own on a night out.

Given the inspiration it’s really no surprise that the bar is soundtracked every night of the week by the best in Hip Hop and R’n’B, with their resident DJ’s bringing you the best tracks from all eras until 3am every Friday and Saturday!

Good music is all well and good, but what’s a bar without a decent selection of drinks? Well, pretty shit really! Fortunately GBA have themselves a more than decent selection of drinks, with wines, spirits, draft beers and, almost inevitably for the NQ, a rotating bottle and canned beer selection from the likes of Shindigger, Kona & First Chop to name just a few.

When it comes to their cocktails they are all based around underground themes, criminals and cultural icons, like the Bourbon Bandit (Bourbon, Cassis, Blackberries and Ginger), Thelma and Louise (Vodka, Elderflower Lemonade, Mint Bitters and Strawberry) and Christy Macktini (Vanilla Vodka, Passoa, Pineapple, Vanilla and Prosecco). If you arrive before 9pm why would you not take advantage of their 2-4-£10 cocktail offer?

GBA also do drinks packages for anyone who would like to book a booth for the evening, which you can find all drinks offers under the bottle section of their website.

If the thought of sharing Guilty By Association with people you don’t know fills you with dread then maybe you should book the place to yourself (with some friends or colleagues perhaps, it’s a bit big for one). Venue hire is available for special occasions and corporate events, with discounts to businesses in the local NQ area.

Not sure where to find GBA? It’s under PLY and opposite Fred Aldous…or just look for the queues on a Friday and Saturday night! Get there early or get yourself on the guestlist by giving them a call in advance and avoid all that waiting around.
