Goodbye Keko, hello Convenience Store!

Keko Moku has sat on the corner of the Beautiful Drinks building (home to the original Almost Famous, Luck Lust Liquor & Burn and previously Socio Rehab) for 7 “long, super fun, late night, hungover, sickly sweet, pineapple loving, cinnamon flaming, rum burning, zombie sozzled years“. During those 7 years the bar has been graced by a veritable who’s who of Manchester bartenders, all earning their stripes behind the tiny stick, but now Manchester’s original tiki bar is closing, forever, at the end of this week. The weather beaten doors will close for the last time on Saturday the 19th of November, forever, so apparently it’s true; #tikiisdead.

But before there’s even been time to mourn the sad passing, in its fresh tiki grave Beautiful Drinks will be opening Manchester’s first friendly neighbourhood Convenience Store. But as the press release warns;

It’s not another fucking Tesco Express.

Details are scarce, but with their history I imagine it’s going to be a twisted take on your average corner shop, with plenty of booze and naughty treats, and absolutely no essentials. I’m pretty sure we haven’t seen a convenience store quite like this!

It’s got attitude, it’s cool, it’s current, it relates to people, it’s real.

Opening at the end of November, hit them up on your favourite social platform @buymoreshit for news, and no doubt mischief, launch parties, giveaways and competitions…

And make sure you give Keko the sendoff it deserves!
