If you like your bread fresh and tasty then the Northern Quarter’s Bakerie on Lever Street has been the best place to head. Well now they are prepared to share some of their baking secrets with us at their Bread Baking Classes. Be quick though, there are only 10 places on each of the courses so they can keep the tuition to the highest standards. If you want to be able to create some fresh breads at home, then this is the course for you.
Bakerie Bread Baking Course
The course is designed for anybody who has never tried baking or even people who have basic knowledge. To start you will be introduced to the basic ingredients with some facts & figures regarding the production of breads. Then the more practical elements of the day begin;
First up you will be shown how to produce a basic white bread free-form loaf using just flour, water ,yeast and salt. You will learn to prove, shape and bake your loaf with slashing and flouring also shown.
Next up you will learn how to make and dress a Foccacia using a variety of ingredients supplied by the nice Bakerie people.
Last but not least, you will produce a Panetonne sweet loaf, which will teach you how the introduction of milk,eggs and butter affect your bread.
Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be supplied at the start of the session and during the half time break and of course this being Bakerie there is a fully licensed bar available to purchase drinks before and during the course. Not sure that being half-cut is recommended but it certainly could add to the fun!
