UPDATE: FYG IS NOW WOOD WINE & DELI. HEAD HERE FOR MORE DETAILS.
Tucked away in the Smithfield building on Tib Street next to the stairs leading to Simple, NTP etc you could be forgiven for walking past Fyg, a delightful little deli. Elevated above ground level themselves it’s hard to see what’s been going on in there since it opened in 2011 from the road, but venturing inside to discover what’s on offer is well worth doing.
This is even more so since the 2nd of January this year (2014) when Fyg was taken over by House of Adventure Group, becoming Fyg Deli & Wine Bar in the process. These are the people behind the recent takeover and makeover at Cord and Simple and they are coming into the Northern Quarter with great ideas and a fresh approach to all of their ventures, looking to put them all firmly in the hearts and minds of residents and visitors.
The wheels are in motion at Fyg and the improvements can already be seen in their new daytime menu (which you can see below, click it for a larger version) with wine, evening and platter menus to follow along with a fresh lick of paint and a new layout. The aim is to provide a relaxed and homely atmosphere alongside perfectly selected wines, cheeses and meats. Focusing on hearty breakfasts, tasty evening suppers and informal live music in a warm surrounding of leaves, familiar smiles and comfortable seating. They want to make this a place you want to not just come back, but never want to leave in the first place!
The isn’t a complete change of direction however. Fyg is known for having a fantastic range of wines, cheeses, unusual marmalades, curious leaf teas and flavoured oils and vinegars and most, if not all, of these elements will be retained in the new Fyg Deli & Wine Bar.
Open daily from 10am, Fyg Deli & Wine Bar will cater for your breakfast needs, lunch cravings and supper delights alongside delicious wines for every occasion (although breakfast may be a little early!).
