When it opened on Thursday 3rd April 2014 El Capo brought something new to the Tariff Street end of the Northern Quarter and its thriving bar & restaurant scene.  An ‘original concept’ designed and developed by owner Peter Skelton, the bar and restaurant provides an authentic South American atmosphere with Latin influenced beats and works of art, all designed to captivate every aspect of the vibrant and fascinating culture.

El Capo Margarita

The bar takes up the ground floor at El Capo where you will find a range of over 200 tequilas (that’s one hell of a selection!), a menu of craft cocktails and a fine selection of craft beers. You can see the full El Capo Drinks Menu at the link. Skelton’s extensive background in the industry means service is a big focus and he seeks to instil into his staff a belief that every guest (not just a customer) should feel like they are being welcomed into his home. This is just one of the components of El Capo that Skelton believes sets them apart from the rest of the Northern Quarter bars.

El Capo Platter

Downstairs in the cellar you will find El Capo’s cantina which as you would expect offers authentic South American and Mexican food chosen after extensive travel and research in Mexico (which sounds like a really tough job to me!) The menu boasts a large array of authentic South American tapas as well as a selection of traditional Mexican street food, all using the freshest ingredients and finest spices and it’s all served ‘family style’ in a buzzy dining room that adds to the whole experience. If you want to see the menu then take a look El Capo Food Menu at the link.

El Capo Burger

El Capo have some excellent bottle packages available if you are planning on a big night out and all the details are available on their website. They also have some frankly ridiculous special offers available in the week; Taco Tuesday with all tacos just £1 and Wing Wednesday where you get 50p wings being just two of the highlights! Lunchtimes are taken care of too as Monday – Friday from Midday until 4pm you can get a choice from 4 dishes, plus a drink for just £6.

Bringing together traditional Mexican and South American design whilst preserving the historic integrity of Manchester’s renowned industrial architecture, El Capo offers a one of a kind experience. Go check it out.
