British Pie Week is perfect preparation for Bakerie’s ‘Pie & Ale’

Almost every day of the year seems to be ‘something or other’ day and every week seems to be National ‘this and that’ week, a thinly veiled excuse for some promotional activity or other. Well British Pie Week may well be the same, but at least it has a great outcome for all of us; who doesn’t like a pie of some kind or another? Steak & Kidney, Apple, Chicken & Mushroom, Key Lime, Shepherd’s, Cottage, Spinach & Feta……possibilities are endless, but all delicious!

So from the 4th to the 10th of March we have the perfect excuse to go out and fulfil our pie desires; we are just supporting British Pie Week after all!

And where better to indulge ourselves than at Bakerie? If you want freshly baked then this is the place to go in the Northern Quarter, and if you were around their Xmas pop up you may have caught glimpse of some huge pies momentarily before they were descended upon by ravenous hawks (or guests as they probably called them!), leaving in seconds only the odd remnant in an oversized pan.For British Pie Week the Bakerie bakers will be knocking up a ‘Pie Of The Day‘ to be enjoyed at Bakerie alongside the usual fresh hearty fare on offer.

The week, and the pies, will also serve as the perfect introduction to Bakerie’s latest venture; Pie & Ale. With adjoining doors & shared kitchen to the Bakerie Tasting Store at The Hive, Pie & Ale will offer what is says on the tin i.e. freshly baked pies served with a fine selection of great real ales. Set to open late March 2013 Pie & Ale will complete the set as far as Bakerie are concerned and will have a large central bar with a mix of snug booths and high poseur tables planned to allow for a sociable as well as intimate setting in a classic “beer Keller meets Philippe Starck environment“.

The concept is simple; Pie & Ale will serve three flavours of pie each day one meat, one vegetable and one guest special.  ‘Its all about the Pie’ is their motto so everything they serve will work in partnership with their freshly baked pies. I’m looking forward to getting to try one, without the hawks!
