For over 4 years now Bakerie Bread & Wine Bar has been serving up delicious freshly baked bread, hearty stews and delicious sharing platters and pairing it all with an eclectic wine selection of over 70 bottles, some great real ales and continental lagers. It’s been doing it rather well too! So well in fact that in 2016 they are going to open up a new space in their basement, offering more seating and also a dedicated space for their bread making, wine tasting and other classes.
Bakerie is a friendly and unpretentious venue situated in the Northern Quarter on Lever Street, slightly away from some of the carnage that ensues on occasion in the NQ, which frankly just adds to its allure. Inside you will find a large open space with plenty of seating and a variety of tables to suit couples, large groups and everyone in between. There’s a few booths for those who just want to come in for a more casual time, ideal for sampling the wine and sharing a platter or two.
One of the booths is also home to Bakerie’s wine ‘jukebox’, the first in Manchester if I’m not mistaken, which offers the chance to sample wines that otherwise you wouldn’t be able to try, while holding all the wines, both red and white, at the perfect temperature.
Bakerie isn’t just about wine though and the menu is a tasty mix of lighter bites and hearty, filling dishes and of course lots of the food is served with helpings of their delicious fresh baked bread. If you want to check out the main menu you can have a look here (Bakerie Main Menu) and you can view the lunch menu here (Bakerie Lunch Menu). If you want to get a glimpse of the wines and other drinks they have on offer then you can view the menu here (Bakerie Drinks Menu), but they regularly have special wines (sometimes VERY special wines!) so it’s worth giving them a follow on Twitter too.
Bakerie offers a chilled-out vibe with some great music, delicious food and awesome wine. Look out for their wine tasting events, bread making classes and some awesome deals. You might also want to give their other venue, Pie & Ale, a look in. And of course that extension in 2016, it’s going to be BIG!
