If you like arty stuff then this might just be your night; Thursday 21st of March welcomes the arrival of three Arts events at Chinese Arts Centre.

1 – Preview evening for an exhibition of works by American artist Nina Yuen.

Preview: 21 March 2013, 5.30-7.30pm
Exhibition: 22 March – 11 May 2013
Artist Talk: 22 March 3.30-4.30pm

Nina Yuen is a Hawaiian-born artist who combines fictionalised personal memories and disparate accounts of the past to create alternative realities. She uses video as her medium of choice to create striking assemblages of performance, montage and melodic voiceovers. The works develop from a time consuming process which sees Nina immerse herself in constructed environments specific to her characters, with often moving results.

2 – Re-Conventional Design Show

Re-conventional – Graduate Design Show
Featuring designer’s Ai-Lun Huang (from Re-conventional) and Joe Hartley, Manchester Craft and Design Centre’s 2012 Graduate Solo Exhibition Prize winner: 22 March – 20 April 2013

Preview 21st March 2013 (5:30pm – 7:30pm)

Designer talk in collaboration with Manchester Craft and Design Centre (MCDC): 25th March 2013 at MCDC (6pm)

Re-conventional is a new graduate Design Show celebrating the works of three UK-based Chinese designers, who work across the North West, London and Scotland. The show aims to highlight the changing shift in contemporary design practice and the increasing desire for young designers to reference back to classic and everyday objects for inspiration for their new products.

3 – Berlin based Artist Antonia Low welcomes in the public to her temporary studio space at Chinese Arts Centre

Mid Residency Open Studio – 5.30-7.30pm

Berlin-based Antonia Low’s architectural-archaeological explorations of everyday surroundings often result in the disruption of a space, leaving elements exposed or seemingly under construction.
