24:7 Theatre Festival, the beating heart of new theatre, comes to Three Minute Theatre, right here in the Northern Quarter from Friday 20th July through to Friday 27th July.
Manchester’s annual festival dedicated to new theatre is nearly upon us and this year part of it is happening right here in the Northern Quarter. The Three Minute Theatre, in Afflecks Arcade plays host to 3 of the 10 new plays that make up this year’s festival. The Three Minute Theatre, which has just celebrated its first birthday, is thrilled to be a part of this now iconic Manchester Festival, where the ethos of celebrating new talent matches that of 3MT perfectly. The Cell
Synopsis: ‘A prisoner has hanged himself; another has been beaten by an officer. Now inmate Kelly is barricaded inside a cell with the officer. Both are guilty of something and both want answers. Officer Scully plays a game to predict Kelly’s future, but it’s his own that’s in the balance.‘
Firestarter
Synopsis: ‘A Northern city in the 1970s. A lot of fires are claiming a lot of lives. Some people deserve it. They leave a window open. Or they look at you funny. Or they say summat. Or they do summat they should never have done. Peter’s here. Watching. Waiting. Ready to strike.‘
My Arms
Synopsis: ‘A rainy night in Manchester. Colin finally returns home to face up to his past, but wife Helen is struggling to rebuild what is left of their broken home. Told in reverse order, My Arms is a compelling new drama about the limits of love and our willingness to forgive.‘
